If you are like me running your own business, you know what it takes to be relevant in your space. You have to wear multiple hats, be an accountant, a social media expert, customer service, etc. Having a great content strategy in place for your business will be the key to elevating your marketing strategy. In this post, I will be going over some tips on how you can create a content strategy for your business in 2021 so that you can become more profitable and an expert in your niche.
Plan Your Topics in Advance
Tips for creating quality content do not just count for businesses. You may be working on a blog or other professional agendas that require product knowledge or information on a service. The first thing you want to consider is planning your topics. Once you prepare your bucket list of topics you would like to discuss, the entire writing process becomes easier.
ย If you are unfamiliar with the writing process or have a different perspective, let me put it to you this way. If you write content to write and you don’t research what your audience is searching for, or relevant keywords then chances are it will fall into the algorithm hole.
When I teach a branding strategy class, I encourage my clients to purchase a planner with a calendar to write down the days content will get published and the types of content that will be discussed. I like to plan my content weeks in advance sometimes months so I can generate new ideas. I’m a writer so most if not all of my content is related to brand authority, optimizing portfolios, ebooks, etc. So keeping up to date with SEO, researching and branding is part of my niche.
Research Keywords
Keywords are specific words that help people narrow down searches online. These words are used in your content so that certain key topics can be found and highlighted to your ideal clients. There are a ton of platforms that you can use to generate keywords. I use Jaaxy, it’s proven and true for me. However, I would encourage you to do your own research and see what works for you.
What are Keyword searches?

Check Out The Competition
We all learn from someone,ย children go to school to learn how to read and write. The same concept goes for your business. When you start, your initial analysis you tend to binge surf the internet to help you generate ideas and bring out creativity. Creating a great content strategyย for your business is understanding how others are connecting with their clients. Discovering the client’s needs and wants is really important to any business growth.
Of course, there are no copycats here. We are simply learning the fundamentals of building and generating leads while creating a long-term sales funnel.
Pre-Schedule Your Content with a Content Calendar
Pre-scheduling content is going to give you maximum results in staying aligned with your content goals. It will help you save time by planning, organizing your marketing strategies, and increasing productivity.
But why is it so important to have a content calendar in place? Well-for-one having a content calendar will help you stay organized while you decide on publishing dates, keywords, or other relevant topics.
As a busy entrepreneur, it is important to understand how creating content and consistently posting makes a huge impact on your business from keeping you relevant to building brand authority. You can make last-minute changes to your content or collaborate with someone on implementing different dynamics of your content strategy. So the next time you plan out your content, consider a content calendar to help you continue achieving your business goals.
Know Who Your Ideal Clients Are
Knowing who your ideal clients are is essential to understanding how to help them solve a problem. As I experienced growth as an entrepreneur, I was able to identify and target my ideal clients to build better business relationships and create a long-term sales funnel.
I want my business to grow, and to achieve that; I have to be in the market to help people first before I sell them on a service.
Set Daily Writing Goals
Setting daily writing goals is equally important to have a great content strategy in place. You will always have content available to post ahead of time, and you can revise your content accordingly. I have daily writing goals that I like to commit to so I can achieve maximum results. I have seen that by being consistent you get more leads and more opportunities.
Some of your content goals should be planning. Planning will help you decide when to post, how often to post, whether to plan content once a week, once a month, or every other month to be more efficient in your content efforts.
Repurposing Content
Updating old content or what most of us like to call repurposing content, helps identify areas of improvement, enabling you to boost creativity and give you future content ideas. Whenever I am repurposing content, I start by sections and work my way through the entire document. I typically check for updates or any changes in the process, policies, or procedures.ย
Conclusion
I covered different elements in this post to help you become more efficient and save you time by having a good content strategy in place.

hello, I always had problems writing content and searching keywords, thank you for your knowledge to sharing. Now I can search very easily my keywords and contents. I learned lots of new things from your site. You made it all simple to easily read it for visitors and explain everything step by step. Thank you again for sharing your all tips. Take care.
Hi Manu thank you for those encouraging words Iโm glad you learned something from it today. ??
The biggest take away for me was set daily writing goals and of course stick to it. I am quite consistent but I do go through ups and downs in that area. I will write for days at a time and then take just as many days off it seems. Self discipline is the key to being consistent. It can be tough some times when the results from the search engines take so long, you have to really focus on the activities and not the results for a long period of time in order to stay on track. I have also been repurposing content recently, and find that on the days I do not feel like writing I have no problem going back and updating old posts, so it works out in the end I guess. Thanks for the post. Cheers
Hi Robb I am glad that you enjoyed my post and that it gave you some ideas and yes it can be challenging to be consistent but well worth it if you stick to your goals. YOU GOT THIS!
Hi.
I enjoyed this article and you have mentioned some great tips.
I particularly liked the tip about pre-scheduling content.
I can certainly see the benefit in this as I will know what topic I am writing about when I sit down at my computer rather than trying to come up with an idea at the time.
I also like the idea of repurposing old content. I definitely see the benefit of this and noticed I get ideas for new content by reading the comments people have left on an old post.
Do you get ideas for future posts from comments as well?
Thank you for this post, I have bookmarked it for reference.
Hi Deb ๐ Thank you for those words of encouragement and absolutely I do generate ideas from comments as well. I enjoy it when people give me recommendations ๐

Hi Viviana,
I agree with you that keyword researches help our website to rank higher on search engines so that people can find our articles easily before landing on othersโ posts. I am interested in the keyword tool you attached here, which seems easier than other products Iโve tried in the past. I will love to read more about it from you.
Thanks for sharing.
Matt
Hi Viviana,
I really loved the great tips you provided.
My 3 key tips are: checking the competition, the keyword search tool and access to downloadable docs for keyword search.
Checking the competition does make sense and is a useful to better understand content that ranks, post formatting and ideas for new content. The keyword search tool – Jaaxy looks interesting and I will be exploring this in addition to the downloadable docs for keyword search on Etsy.
Hi Viviana,
Amazing strategies, thanks for sharing this informative article. I agree with the fact that accurate keyword research is necessary to find success online, businesses should focus to help customers find them rather than only focusing on the output.
Your article truly gave valid areas business should look into, I personally love the concept of the pre-scheduling content calendar as it will help to carry business in a systematic manner so it saves time and business can achieve effective results.
Without a strategy it is like risking all efforts going to waste, instead, businesses can build effective strategies and let their business grow.
Thanks
Cheers!
Hi Samantha I am so happy you enjoyed my article thank you for your feedback ๐ I am glad that it motivated you in some way to creating a better content strategy for business ๐
Without a strategy, success or failure is just a matter of luck โ and you risk all your efforts going to waste.
Very informative indeed. I do struggle with writing plans and following it true. But it sure prepare one mentally for his next content, and prevent the tendency to run out of ideas.
Thanks alot
Thank you Solomon I am glad you found this helpful ๐
Very good ideas, I like your content strategy. It makes sense to plan on a calendar like you would plan appointments and to have content in advance. I would say checking out the competition is very important, it’s interesting to know what people in my niche think and write about. It is all about researching and then applying your strategy.
I will definitely get a planner to fill in my content strategy, excellent advise.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Cornelia I truly appreciate your response ๐
Thank you Munoz for this fabulous and informative article. One key to a successful business is planning your topics in advance, listing out these topics as this makes it easier to narrow it down . Setting daily goals is very important and its one thing I do and always love to do. This helps me keep track of what im doing and also lets me know if I am making headway or slacking. Its really great and I think business owners or just anyone could do this if they want to see their progress. its very helpful.
Keep up the good work
Hi there Femi thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I truly appreciate you ๐ and yes! Having things organized can help bring clarity and brainstorm your ideas.
This is a nice tactical guide. I’m sure I’d call it a strategy or a content marketing guide. I feel like a content strategy needs to address the audience.
For sure! Thank you for the messages ๐
