Where to purchase a domain name

Assuming that you are in the preliminary stages of creating your very first website and you are here because you aren’t familiar with where to purchase a web domain?  No worries I was in your shoes at one point, and we all have to start our search somewhere. I created this website specifically on how to create a website.

In this post, I will be discussing some web domain options for you to choose from and where you can purchase them. I will also be going over some free and paid web domains as well.

Why do you need a web domain?

A web domain is going to distinguish your sites identity from others. It’s the name of your website. A web domain is going to help others know immediately on what your website is all about. This gives your audience a choice to check your site’s content out or go directly to another source.

You want to be able to create a domain that is easy for people to remember as well as something catchy and short.

You also want to make it as relevant to your niche, the simpler, the better.

What companies offer web domains?

When searching for tips on how to get a website domain, you will see a variety of companies offering these services. Typically you can purchase a web domain directly through a hosting provider like Bluehost.  With this option, you can instantly buy their hosting services right from the same platform.

This makes it easier to remember well at least for me, so I am not trying to figure out where I purchased my domain from.

Here is a list of the recommended hosting companies where you can purchase your web domain.

What comes first when creating a website?

If you are just starting your search it can become very complicated when overloaded with information. First, you are trying to figure out what’s the best course of action to take when creating your site. You are asking yourself what steps I need to take to get started? I have provided some in-depth material you can view on how to create a blog post.

This will allow you to reference what is already on this post.

  1. Figure out a name for your web domain.
  2. Choose your web builder. Not all companies offer the same web builder. I would recommend WordPress since its dominates a big chunk of the internet.
  3. First, choose a company that you want to purchase your domain from. Most companies will already offer both web hosting and domain but if not try sticking to one that will.
  4. Then purchase hosting within the same platform and start going through the setup process. If you are using Wealthy Affiliate, I have created a step-by-step post here.

Some of my recommendations

There are many good companies out there where you can purchase a web domain directly through their platform. I will be going over the ones I have personally used in the past with some of my clients as well as for myself.  This way you can make a better judgment call on which one is right for you.

Wealthy Affiliate

step 1 creating a blig post

Wealthy Affiliate offers domains, hosting, website builder and much more. I use this platform for all of my website functions. What I like about the Wealthy affiliate platform is that you have the option to purchase a domain or have a free subdomain. The platform offers two FREE websites to get started. This is a good option for those who aren’t sure where to begin or even if you are on a budget.

Wealthy Affiliate offers step-by-step training on how to create your website using WordPress. This set up literally takes you a few minutes.  >> FREE TRAINING COURSE<<

The platform has lessons on web design, how to create web content, making money online through affiliate links, having a presence in the online space and much more.

You can use the platform to get some useful information or if you want to blog and make money you can do that too.

Bluehost

I have used Bluehost for many of my clients for a variety of reasons. Some needed VP hosting or managed and some just wanted to cut down in cost, either way, you can’t wrong with Bluehost.

Liquid Web is a pricier alternative if you are planning on having high traffic.
